Middletown High School students, under the leadership of Isabella Maguire, Class of 2016, came together to share their time, resources, and positive energy on behalf of Universal Promise. The band of thirteen sought and received the financial support of local businesses, family, and friends before the students hopped on spin bikes to cycle for dollars. In just two hours on a Sunday in April, the students raised $2,200, including the auction proceeds from four Pavilion Red Sox tickets that included easy in/out access parking for a ballgame in early June. Priceless.
This is not the first time this year that MHS students have acted on behalf of UP and those we serve. Isabella led the formation of a Universal Promise school club, the collection of more than 70 pairs of cleats to donate to the Addo Soccer Development Programme, and the raising of $2,200 to support the construction of the Universal Promise Academic Centre.
On behalf of those with whom we work in South Africa, we offer our sincere gratitude to MHS students for the lives they have already changed and the lives they will change because of their steadfast generosity. Enkosi kakhulu.
